Zuleika Dobson, or, An Oxford Love Story, is highly intriguing. Sir Max Beerbohm wrote it in 1922. It is a story that will keep you glued to what will happen next, and at the same time build your vocabulary.
It takes place in Oxford University. Zuleika meets the ?Duke? and they both instantly fall in love. The only problem is, they keep playing a cat and mouse game and the Duke decides that the only way he can show her his love is to die for her. This he plans. He is going to jump in the river during the annual boat races, and cheer (underwater) as the boat team passes overhead, but Zuleika stops him until later.
Soon, the word is out of the Duke?s plan, and many of the other young men of the college vow their love and thus decide their fate of dying for her love, as well. Zuleika is a conjurer by profession and thus amplifies the interest of many young men with her charms and tricks.
One day the king found that his daughter, the princess, had taken a lover far beneath her station. The king could not allow this and so he threw the suitor in prison and set a date for his trial in the arena. On the day of his trial the suitor looked to the princess for some indication of which door to pick. The princess, did, in fact, know which door concealed the woman and which one the tiger, but was faced with a conundrum. If she indicated the door with the tiger, then the man she loved would be killed on the spot. However, if she indicated the door with the lady, her lover would be forced to marry another woman and even though he would be alive she would never be with him again. Despite this catch 22 she does end up indicating a door, which the suitor then opens. At this point the question is posed to the reader, "Did the tiger come out of that door, or did the lady?" the question is not answered, though, and is left as a thought experiment regarding human nature. From its publication and surprise ending, "the lady or the tiger" has come into the English language as an expression meaning an unsolvable problem. A continuation of this story appeared later as "The Discourager of Hesitancy".

"Yes," said she, standing before me with her clear eyes fixed upon my face, "you are to be congratulated. I think it is likely she is the most charming young woman you are ever likely to meet?and I know a great deal more about her than you do, for I have known her for a long time, and your acquaintance is a very short one?she has qualities you do not know anything about; she is lovely! But for all that it would be very wrong for you to marry her, and I am glad she had sense enough not to let you do it." Forgiveness or Else talks about what happens when the world does not forgive, and the blessings individuals receive through forgiveness. It focuses on how to have see, BELIEVE, and then see in reality. Our world is in chaos at the moment, and that is because the powers that be do not understand the concept of forgiveness or else. Unless there is major changes at that basic idea and understanding no one will be safe. It is based on the God?s Word
