  | JosephusCS 2.1.1 |   | JosephusCS is a program that solves the Josephus Permutation problem:
Original Problem: 1000 slaves in a circle, numbered 1 to 1000, are all
to be shot except one lucky survivor. The order of shooting is 1, 3,
5, etc., always alternating, and always immediately removing the
fallen bodies. Once a body has fallen, it is no longer considered part
of the circle for purposes of future counting and alternation.
Example, n=6: Shoot 1,3,5,2,6; 4 survives.
The General Problem: There is an ordered set of n objects arranged
in a circle with object i (n >= i >= 1) in position i. All n objects are
selected and removed in a certain order and placed in a new circle
with the new position number k beings the order of selection. Object
f is selected first. After each selection, m minus 1 of the remaining
objects following the one removed are skipped and the next object
is then selected. We are interested in the nature of the permutation
generated by this process, its fixed elements, and in particular the
original position L of the last object selected. Note that m and f can
be as low as 1 and can be larger than n.
n = The number of objects in the circle
f = index of first object to be selected [1, n]
m = difference in index of items selected, m = 2 => every other

Household Calculator handles main arithmetic operations with two operands, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and complex formulas with unlimited number of operations and operands.
For example, you can type in Edit Window such formula ((12.55+10.05+8.45+17.35)/30)*0.7-(13.45+15.76+2.05)*0.33 . Ergonomic design allows easily navigate through controls and enter data using both mouse and keyboard.
The Household Calculator has three windows or boxes: Edit Window, Result Window, and History Window. In the Edit Window you enter formulas using buttons and keyboard. When you use a keyboard , you can use all standard rules of text editing.
The most convenient is use of numerical pad on the right of standard keyboard. Buttons also provides full functionality of Household Calculator. If you mistake in typing formula, like square root of a negative number, you just get a message in the Result Window that the formula is unclear.
The Household Calculator tries to handle all possible ambiguities, following the standard mathematical rules. For example, formula 3/-4 - 5*2 will be treated as 3/(-4) - (5*2) . If you want to be completely sure in the result, use parentheses.
A result number in the Result Window can be copied into Edit Window by clicking Result button. Sometimes it is useful during calculations. For example factorial button is absent, but you can easily calculate 10! by typing formula 1*2*3*4*5*6*7*8*9*10 or by series 2*3, =, Result, *4, =, Result, *5, =, Result, *6, =, Result, *7, =, Result,*8, =, Result, *9, =, Result, *10, =, imitating "old style calculators".
Calculation History Window has unlimited length. Use a scroll bar to navigate the window with log history. You can save the calculation history into text file or print it. Before this you can change size and style of the font in History Window. |

Otherwise Scientific Calculator is similar to Simple Calculators. There are options to save and print calculation history, to change font, and standard editing options.
Graphing Calculator 2D Numeric is a further development of Graphing Calculator2D from Math Center Level 1. It has extended functionality: hyperbolic functions are added. There are also added new capabilities which allow calculating series, product series, Permutations, Combinations, Newton Binomial Coefficients, and Gauss Binomial Coefficients . Graphing Calculator 2D Numeric has capability to build graphs for first and second derivatives, definite integral (area under curve) and length integral (length of curve). Since these calculations are done numerically, not symbolically, the calculator is called Numeric.
Graphing Calculator 2D Parametric is a generalization of Graphing Calculator 2D Numeric. Now x and y are functions on parameter . If you are typing formula using keyboard, then you can use "tau" for . Since all calculations are done twice, for x and y, there was some sacrificing of precision in order to keep speed of calculations. So, although it is possible to build the same graph of y=f(x) in parametric calculator using x= , y=f( ), the Graphing Calculator 2D Numeric will build it with greater precision.
Graphing Calculator 2D Polar is a specialization of Graphing Calculator 2D Numeric. |
