If you're looking for a powerful network monitor that's easy-to-use, take a good look at Servers Alive, by bvba Woodstone. This product is quite simply loaded with features. And far more features than I can adequately cover here, but I'll hit the high points for you. For starters it can monitor any winsock service, but it can do so much more. Like determining the amount of disk space that's available or making sure that a particular process is running. Pretty slick. What really impressed me, however, is the number of ways Servers Alive can let you know when it detects that there's a problem.
If there's any kind of problem on your network Servers Alive can let you know in a variety of ways. Like playing a sound, sending you an email, or even paging you! It can reboot a Windows server or even create a Web page! How slick is that? Very! And it can monitor up to 1,000 different hosts or services at one time, including things like Oracle databases, FTP, DNS, POP3, SMTP, SQL servers, UDP services, and lots, lots more. If all this weren't enough, Servers Alive is the first product of its kind to support IPv6 enabled DNS checks as well as WAP pages that can be viewed on a wireless device. Imagine getting a SMS text message on your phone telling you about a network problem. Very nicely done!
Servers Alive, by bvba Woodstone, monitors critical systems and can keep you aware of exactly how things are going on your network. And when there's a problem, it can notify you in an impressive variety of ways. It has its fingers on the pulse of your network and it's always ready to let you know about trouble. It's powerful, yet easy-to-setup and run. This is a program that no network administrator should be without. Extremely impressive, I recommend it highly!! Try it out on your network!
WS_FTP Pro, by Ipswitch, Inc., is a powerful tool for doing everything you need to do with file transfers. I particularly like it because it has a clean, no-nonsense interface. It clearly shows you what's on your side, what's on the other side, and what's going on between the two. And here again, whether you're a novice or an expert, it makes it easy for anyone to transfer a file. It has a really handy "Site Profile Wizard" that walks you through adding a site to the program. Give it a name, put in the host, add your login details, deal with firewalls, and lots more. In a flash you're done and ready to connect!
I find WS_FTP Pro to be both secure and reliable. In fact, I use it for keeping my Web pages up-to-date, uploading files, and more. And it has so many useful opitons. You can integrate it with your Web browser, schedule file transfers to run unattended, and even use it to synchronize a local folder and an FTP directory. Very slick! A really excellent feature for newer users is its "Assistance Center". From here you can find out all of the basics about FTP. The Assistance Center also gives you access the the excellent tutorials that will take you step-by-step through everything you need to know about FTP.
WS_FTP Pro, by Ipswitch, Inc., is a really excellent product for doing all of your file transfers -- both uploads and downloads. For newer users it has tutorials, online help, and a simplicity that makes it easy-to-use. At the same time advanced users will find it packed with the kind of high-powered features they desire. I've been using WS_FTP Pro for a very long time, and it just keeps getting better and better. Give it try and I think you'll stick with it! Excellent!
ACDSee Classic, by ACD Systems, is an award-winning image viewer that's really easy-to-use. The interface is crisp, clean, and very intuitive, so it's perfect for both new and experienced users. And, it really gives you control of all your graphics images with support for GIF, TIFF, JPG, PIC, and many other popular graphics file formats. This is a great tool for organizing all of your images so they're easy-to-find. It even allows you to give a description to each image! Pretty cool! I also like the fact that ACDSee Classic let me view thumbnails as well as full pictures -- a nice feature.
ACDSee Classic gives you all the tools you need to work with your graphics images. You can crop images, rotate them, and much more. I also love the way it does batch image conversions - very slick. Another very nice feature is the ability to establish a list of "favorites" within the program. That makes it really easy for you to find the things you use most often, and I like that. Saves a lot of time and energy! Another thing I like about ACDSee Classic is that it gives you a number of configurable options -- so the program works the way you want. And that's always a plus.
