SmpMapX, by Trius, Inc., is a truly powerful OCX that is essentially very simple. My review is targeted towards programmer types, so listen up. This tool is inexpensive compared to similar products on the market. It's also very well documented and that lets a developer get up and running in a matter of minutes. Trius even makes
self running demo's available on their Web site to aid developers. With SmpMapX and some good data you can create a wide range of products, or features within your existing product. Take a look at the screen capture for just a tiny sample of what can be done with SmpMapX! No matter what industry you work in today, Telecom, Financial, Real Estate, Logistics, and the like, if you need to leverage off the power of location then SmpMapX should be your tool of choice. It will not only give you the power to deliver maps to the desktop, or the Web, but you can also do complex analysis.
Using SmpMapX you can load, and manage, MID/MI, SHP/DBF, and TXF/TDB vector files, as well as raster data files. And, do so as distinct layers. Label roads, landmarks, manipulate colors, and lots more. The power of this programming tool just blows me away -- there is so much that can be done with it. Impressed, I asked for a "second opinion." And I asked John Williams who has worked in the GIS (Geographic Information System) arena for over 15 years, what his thoughts were about SmpMapX. John said, and I quote,
"Bar none, the biggest bang for your buck! Pass the tool some demographic data and it gives you the tools to produce powerful thematic maps for decision support, market analysis, or retail site selection. Engineered for speed this tool will perform for today's demanding users. No more waiting!" He went on to say, "The SmpMapX OCX tool has several advantages over the existing tools on the market. It shortens development time. By creating an architecture that allows a developer to only have to write a couple lines of code to perform more complex operations, like a thematic mapping, the developer can easily integrate the tool into an existing application or create an app from the ground up in a fraction of the time it would take in other tools!"
SmpMapX, by Trius, Inc., is a powerful programming tool that has a wide range of uses. It has excellent documentation and it's backed by Trius, a leader in the industry since 1985. It's simple enough to allow you to create something useful in just minutes, and yet powerful enough to handle really complex applications. So, if you're looking for the right tool for Mapping/GIS applications, look NO further. SmpMapX is all the tool you're going to need! I recommend it!
Photolightning, by Photolightning Corporation, is a really slick program for dealing with digital pictures. What really impressed me about this product is that it's easy-to-use and very intuitive. A number of similar programs I've looked at made the entire process of dealing with
digital photos too complex. For many newer users in particular, all they want to do is get their pictures off their camera and move on from there. Well, Photolightning handles that task and handles it well! And then, it gives you lots of options. For example, the ability to "doctor" up your pictures. You can remove that pesky "red eye" which is always present in pictures of my daughter Kadee. Photolightning also makes it a snap to crop (trim) your pictures, sharpen the focus, and also rotate them. And, you can pick exactly what pictures you want to deal with. Select the ones you want, ignore the ones you don't. Or delete them. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, could be easier. The program also makes it easy to rename each picture and give it a label that makes sense to you! Very nicely done!
Photolightning then lets you deal with your pictures in a variety of ways. If you want to print them yourself, the program makes it simple. It also offers support for the most common sizes, like 5 by 7, and a wide range of paper stocks. If you wish, you can also choose to utilize an online service like Shutterfly for printing your photos. Photolightning will even upload your photos to the service. One of the features I really liked was that the program made it easy to send your photos by email. What's neat is that when you pick a group of pictures to send, the program offers to either 1) reduce the size of the pictures, or 2) put them in a ZIP file. Very cool! Both options help to reduce file transfer time. Another neat feature, after you've made your selections, is that Photolightning will copy that exact order to a memory card for you. Makes it easy to take the card to a place that will print your pictures for you. You can also create a quick photo album, or use a third-party product called "FlipAlbu
m". That's also a very cool program and may appear in a review of its own.

That makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. It's literally as easy as 1, 2, 3. Look at your pictures, pick the ones you want, and handle them the way you choose. The program is loaded with good options that are easy-to-understand, even for novices. So, if you're looking for a program for easily dealing with your digital photographs, look no further! Photolightning is the easiest program I've seen so far! Give it a try!
Wintility Plus, by PX Technologies, Inc., is a fascinating tool that really helps you to organize a wide range of information. One of the problems of our age is having almost too much information. Emails, documents, spreadsheets, graphics, music files, and so much more! You can get so many files and documents on your computer that after awhile it becomes hard to manage them. Hard to tell which one is which, or find what you're looking for. And if you toss email messages into the mix it just adds to the amount of stuff you have to keep track of. If you have that problem, take a good look at Wintility Plus! This very cool tool lets you organize files and documents so they're easy to find. Unlike a regular "file manager", this product lets you catalog files and you can select just the files you want. The actual files stay right where they are on your hard disk, but you have instant access to them via the program. This product has so many neat features I doubt I'll be able to cover them all, but here are t
he high points!
Wintility Plus has a really clean and intuitive interface, and that makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. In testing it out, I used all of my Microsoft Word documents. The program clearly displayed all of my folders and files. If you wish, you can change a files name or it's description. One really slick feature is that you can highlight a document and see the first several lines of text. A great way to find what you're looking for. Another neat feature allows you to search through your files to find exactly what you want. The "Filter" options lets you narrow down the file type you're searching through. Filter options include looking by name, file size, creation date, last accessed date, folder, and lots more. At the same time, the program has a powerful search function and you can easily find what you're looking for. Oh, but please don't think that Wintility Plus just does documents. I had it catalogue files with the extensions of .DOC, .TXT, .MP3, .JPG, .GIF, .XLS, and others. It can a
lso handle email! Very impressive.
Wintility Plus, by PX Technologies, Inc., is a truly powerful and flexible tool for dealing with all your information! It makes it easy to organize a wide range of document and file types. From text files to music. It even has an option called "WebWintility" so you can access all of your documents no matter where you are right from the World Wide Web! The program is intuitive, easy-to-use, and extremely flexible. And, it makes it possible for you to find the information you need with just a few mouse clicks. And there's more. So, if you're looking for a product to help you organize files and information, this is it! One of the best products I've looked at in a long time! I recommend it.
