Microangelo is a fascinating product that allows you to do miniaturized graphics, or icons, in Windows, including Windows XP! And, Microangelo, by Impact Software, was the winner of the "Most Votes On Simtel" award at the 2002 SIAF People's Choice Awards voting! It's also won the Shareware Industry Award for "Best Graphics Program" three (3) years in a row. Let's take a quick look at this award-winning program!
Microangelo has multiple parts. Working with the various parts allows you to do many things with icon graphics. Microangelo comes with a Librarian, a Studio, an Explorer, and an Animator. That's right, you can even animate icons with this powerful tool. The Librarian does what the name implies -- it helps you to manage icon files no matter where they are contained. The Studio lets you create, or edit, your icon images. You can create images from scratch or edit and alter existing images. The Explorer helps you find icons on your system. And lastly, the Animator gives you the power to easily add animation to your icons.
Microangelo, by Impact Software, is the most impressive program I've seen for working with icon graphics in Windows. It's unique pieces, or sections, are integrated beautifully, so the program is easy-to-use. Give it a try and you'll be hooked. A favorite of mine, and of users and software developers.
NoteTab Pro is a an award-winning text and HTML editor. It's won the Shareware Industry Awards and People's Choice Awards multiple times, so it's a pick by users and developers alike. This year it won the SIAF People's Choice Award in the "Best Web Enhancement" category! NoteTab Pro is a powerful replacement for the "notepad" tool that comes with Windows. And it's also easy-to-use. NoteTab Pro lets you do everything including format text, spell check, use a thesaurus, load large files, bookmark documents, and much more. It also features a powerful search engine so you can find text easily. Very slick!
And talk about power, wait till you see its "Clipbook" function. It comes with a huge selection of clips that help you with everything from HTML code to unit conversions. And, you can create and edit your own clips. I personally use NoteTab Pro every day, and much of the layout of my "Picks" is done using NoteTab clips. If you like to create Web pages, the clip library is outstanding and will help you to create great-looking pages. NoteTab Pro can also do text-to-HTML conversions, color codes, and more!
NoteTab Pro, by Fookes Software, is all the text editor you'll ever need. There's also a light and standard version of you don't need this much power under the hood. Check it out!
The Black Hole Organizer, won the 2002 SIAF People's Choice Award in the "Best Business Application" category. This is a really innovative free-form database that lets you keep all kinds of information. You can keep notes, links to Web pages, phone numbers, and lots more. The programs editor is full-featured, so you can have text in bold, italic, and underlined. Heck, you can even highlight things that are important. How cool is that?
You can create any number of categories and subcategories within the program. This makes it easy to divide your data into groups that make sense to you. One of the features that I really like is the "floater." The floater can sit on your desktop where it's out of the way. Then, say you have an email address that you've copied to the clipboard. All you have to do is right-click on the floater, select the "View Document Manager" option, and add the contents of the clipboard to your database. It's just that easy! You can also drag files to the floater and they become part of your database. You never have to remember to "save" your work. Black Hole Organizer does that for you automatically.
Black Hole Organizer is really handy on the Internet as well. You can store email addresses, Web page URL's, and it even has a built-in emailer. Send information right from within the program. Another cool feature lets you create links that lead to other files. So, for example, you can create a link within Black Hole that will open a Word document! Very cool. Black Hole Organizer is a great tool for keeping track of all your information. Give it a try -- you won't be disappointed!
Second Copy, by Centered Systems, won the 2002 SIAF People's Choice Award in the "Best Overall Utility" category. This is the third year in a row that this fine program has won the vote of the people. Second Copy is really the big boy of backup utilities. Let's take a quick look.
With Second Copy you can do automatic backups to a variety of devices. Backup to a "Zip Disk", another hard drive, a network drive, and more. The program lets you create profiles, or backup sets, that contain all the information for doing a backup. It's a great way to not only keep a 'second copy' of your important files and documents, but it's a nifty way to back them up. The program actually 'watches' the files you select and notices when there have been changes. When it does, it springs into action and updates everything in the backup location you've selected. Slick!
Another feature of Second Copy that I really like is the ability to keep so-called "old" copies of files. It lets me keep documents that evolve over time. Like my science fiction novel. I've been working on it now for awhile and Second Copy allows me to have, for example, different copies of Chapter 20. Very cool. Second Copy is a very handy tool, so take a look! You can never have too many backups and it's an excellent program.
