Compass, by Softgauge.Com, is a powerful, yet easy-to-use manager for all of your Internet bookmarks. Personally, I don't keep a lot of bookmarks because I remember all of them, but my wife really has a ton of them. Bookmarks for sewing-related things, bookmarks for graduate school, bookmarks for medical-related things, and lots more. And Compass handled them in a snap. I really like the fact that it can handle the bookmarks from the most popular Web browsers -- Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Opera. And it lets you open, save, export, import, and even merge bookmarks! Very slick! And if you want, you can password protect your bookmarks so no one but you can access them. Ahh, but there's more.
Compass actively supports "drag and drop" so you can drag bookmarks from the desktop, from your browser, and more, with ease. Another neat feature is the ability to use "templates". That means that you can export your bookmarks and have them formatted the way you want. And you know how much I like that! And, you can create your own templates, so you can experiment. And at the same time, you can elect to have Compass display things in two different styles ... it's own style and that of Explorer. Really nice to have options. Another feature I really liked is the powerful search capabilities. This is great for finding duplicate links to the same URL (Universal Resource Locator) or just for finding what you're looking for. The search function even supports the use of operands .. NOT, OR, AND. Impressive!
Compass, by Softgauge.Com, is a powerful little program that's very easy-to-use. The interface is intuitive and that makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. In my opinion, it has all the features you need to manage even thousands of bookmarks. It gives you the ability to import, export, edit, delete, search, generate reports, and so much more. And, to top it off, it supports Opera, Netscape, and Internet Explorer -- and I have all 3. So, if your bookmarks are out-of-control, take a very good look at Compass. It's nicely done and one of the best programs of its kind. Try it!
Well, I guess that's all we have time for this week. Never seems to be enough time. And on top of that, we have another blizzard hitting here today! I hope you enjoyed these Picks and I also hope you'll take the time to give them a try. And remember, if you try a shareware program, and find yourself using it, be sure to pay for it. That way the shareware marketing concept works for all of us. I'm off for now, but I'll be back next week with more Picks, just for you. Until then, have a great weekend, and happy downloading.
