Audio CD Maker, by AVANTRIX, Inc., is a really nifty tool for creating audio CDs. What I like about this program in particular is that it has flexibility built right in. For example, it can handle both regular audio CDs as well as the newer MP3 format CDs. Not every similar program can make that claim. Another neat feature is that it can burn MP3 files without the need for any conversion beforehand. Very slick. At the same time, Audio CD Maker also supports CDs of all sizes, which gives you all kinds of flexibility.
Audio CD Maker makes it truly easy, and cheap, to make really high-quality audio CDs. It automatically detects your CD drives and even detects what is the maximum speed that your drive can record at! Very slick. And I found the interface to be very easy-to-use and also intuitive. And that makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. The program will let you do a "test burn", helps you to search for audio format files, and for MP3 CDs, it will also make and burn an ISO (International Organization for Standardization) image. In all my tests the program created perfect audio CDs and it created them very quickly!

Registry Compactor, by Rose City Software, is a powerful program for improving performance by working with the Windows Registry. For those of you who don't know, the Windows "Registry" holds all the information about everything in your computer. And I do mean everything. Your printer, every program you install, and lots, lots more. And what happens is that the registry starts to get fat and bloated. You uninstall programs and they leave junk behind. You get a new printer and it leaves junk behind as well. All that "junk" in the Registry can slow down your machine and cause crashed. Ah, but Registry Compactor can fix that!
Registry Compactor goes through your registry and it removes the junk. It eliminates garbage and entries in the registry that are now empty. Why is this important? Because just as your hard disk can become "fragmented", so can your Windows Registry. And a program that just strips old entries out does not make the Registry smaller. SpamAI, by DAIR Computer Systems, is a different kind of solution for the ever-increasing problem of "SPAM." Spam is the Internet slang for "junk email" or "unsolicited email". Any way you look at it, SPAM is a nuisance. SpamAI is designed a bit differently than other anti-spam programs and can filter email for multiple accounts with a control interface that resides in your Web browser. And what it does is apply stringent "rules" to incoming email. These rules are used on both the headers and the content of all the incoming mail. Then, everything deemed to be "spam" is isolated. What's really interesting is that the rules are automatically updated! And that helps you snag SPAM that's using newer schemes to get through your defenses.
SpamAI let you have access to all of the rules which are constructed using Regular Expression, or RegEx. The rules can range from the extremely simple to the extremely complex. And that makes the program extremely flexible. One really excellent feature is that the program keeps all of the email you get for a month. And it's available regardless of whether you deleted it out of your email program. Very slick! At the same time, SpamAI will work with such email clients as Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express, and many others. It even supports clients used with Linux and Macintosh. Nice!

Hx - The advent of a "registry" is something that came along with Microsoft Windows. Back in the days when DOS (Disk Operating System) was king, there was no such thing as a registry. Under DOS, for example, you had a printer port, LPT1, and if there was a printer connected to it, great! If not, not. Under DOS, you had to know about and understand the things that you installed or connected to your computer. So, while the Windows registry can have some problems, it's also provided a way for all the aspects of your computer to be located in one, central 'document'. Progress. -- -- Doc
