WinOptimizer Suite, by ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG, is a collection of tools that help to keep your computer clean and running very smoothly. If you don't know it by now, I'm here to tell you that your computer collects junk. Useless stuff in the Windows Registry, duplicate copies of the same DLL all over your machine, lot of those so-called "temporary" files, and lots more. Well, with WinOptimizer Suite, you can really clean up! To start with, it has an "Internet Cleaner" that helps you to remove all of those temporary files. Keep in mind that the temporary files are only temporary if you remove them. The Internet Cleaner lets you decide exactly what you want to get rid of. And, when it comes to the infamous "cookies" it also lets you decide which ones you'd like to keep. That's a very slick option to have.
WinOptimizer Suite doesn't stop with just the junk you pick up on the Internet. Its "Registry Cleaner" will go through and eliminate
all of the unwanted rubbish that gets stranded in your Registry when you uninstall programs. Getting rid of the junk helps your computer to run faster and boot quicker. And if all this weren't enough, it also has a "DLL Cleaner" that will go through and find duplicate DLL files on your machine. The programs "Drive Cleaner" will go around your hard disk and help to get rid of duplicate files of other types. On top of that the program has a "Startup Tuner" that lets you keep track of what program are loading when Windows starts. And, to complete the package there's a "File Wiper" that will totally delete a file so that it's unrecoverable and an "Internet Tuner" that optimizes your Internet connection. Excellent!

When needed it can wipe files and folders so they can't be recovered, while also letting you monitor programs that load when Windows starts. So, if you're looking for a package that will keep your computer not only clean, but running smoothly, take a good look at WinOptimizer Suite. Loaded with configurable options. I recommend it.
CompreXX, by MimarSinan International, is really a total package of tools for working with compressed files. And I do mean all types of compressed files. Using technology that's based on codex plug-ins, it offers full support for compressed file types like ZIP, LHA, JAR, CAB, ACE, GZIP, RAR, TAR, and more. At the same time, it has the ability to extract files in any of forty different file formats. Now that's impressive. And the program gives you lots of ways to work, so it suites your style. Whether you want a command line, a helpful wizard, or an easy-to-use traditional interface, it's totally up to you. And that's really a nice feature with this product - it lets you use it in the way that you want to. And I like that.
CompreXX has a feature that makes all of your compressed files behave as if they were folders. And this allows you to work with the files in an archive as if they were just regular files. Very nicely done. The program adds options to the right-click menu in Windows Explorer so you can quickly create any type of archive that you want. Or, you can extract archives with a simple mouse-click. The program gives you real flexibility. It's extremely easy-to-use for newer users, but it also has advanced features that make it appealing to those users who are more advanced. It can repair compressed files that are damaged, help you to recover passwords for ZIP files, easily add compressed files to email, and much, much more. This program is so versatile that I really don't have room to go into all of the things it is capable of. Quite impressive.
CompreXX, by MimarSinan International, is a total solution for working with compressed files, or "archives." It has support for a large number of compressed file types and extraction support for even more. It offers you a range of interfaces, whether it's a command line or a traditional interface. It has really great online help, and even comes with an API/SDK for use by software authors. So, whether you're a new user or an experienced one, this is a program that will handle all of your needs when it comes to compressed files. Really very nicely done -- give it a try for yourself!
CD-Lock, by PC-Magic Software, is a really clever idea for use with CDs and DVDs. What does it do? It lets you encrypt the data that you have on CD or DVD. It utilizes "Blowfish" encryption and if you wish you can even have it scramble the file names. In the screen shot you can see the program, but I've also included a view of my file manager that shows the files on an encrypted CD. You'll note that I had it scramble the file names, which is a handy feature. And with so many CDs and DVDs in use, I think this product has a huge potential. Think about it. How many things do you put on CD or DVD? Personally, I don't even use floppy disks any longer, because it's easier to use a CD. And now, I can lock them!
CD-Lock also allows you to use files that you've encrypted without having to decrypt them. Slick! Put in your CD, enter your the password for that CD, and viola! You have access to all the files on that CD. And if you think that's cool, listen to this. If you copy a file to one of your encrypted CDs, it will also become encrypted when you eject the CD. Wow! Can't get much easier than that. If you "lock" a blank CD before putting anything on it, you can then just copy files to it and be secure in the knowledge that those files will be encrypted.
Encrypting CDs that already have data on them takes longer, so I'd recommend "locking" the CD first and then putting data on it. Much quicker. And another cool feature is that you can give an encrypted CD to someone who does not have CD-Lock installed. That's right, just give them the disc and the password and they're all set. Very slick!
CD-Lock, by PC-Magic Software, is a utility that really fills an important need. The number of CDs, DVDs, and other removable media that are in use increases daily. And people store all manner of data on this media -- from computer backups to business data. Now, there's a fast, effective way to protect that data. A way to share it without a lot of hassle. And while CD-Lock works seamlessly with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, people using Windows 98 and Windows ME can decrypt CDs. So, if you put a lot of data on CDs, DVDs, or other removable media, and you'd like to protect it, you have to take a look at CD-Lock! Give it a try -- I recommend it!

Michael E. Callahan, known around the world by the trademarked name "Dr. File Finder", is regarded as the world's leading expert on shareware. Dr. File Finder works with software programs and developers full-time, and in the average year he evaluates 10,000 programs. Since 1982 he has evaluated over 190,000 software and hardware products. He is an active member of the shareware community and a co-founder of the Shareware Industry Awards Foundation. Mr. Callahan is an honorary member of the Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP), the President of the Educational Software Cooperative (ESC), and the chairman of the Shareware Industry Awards Foundation (SIAF).
