FolderClone, by Salty Brine Software, provides a great way to keep backups of your programs and synchronize files on other machines or on a variety of media. In the past I've reviewed its sister product, FolderMatch which is also excellent. FolderClone, however, provides a somewhat different function and I want to tell you about it. As the name implies, it creates a "clone" of a "source" folder or file in a different location. You can opt to include or exclude sub folders. You can synchronize a program between two computers, or make an exact copy of a set of files on a ZIP disk, CD, DVD, and the like. Very cool.
And it's great for use at home or in your business.
FolderClone has a very intuitive interface and the program is extremely easy-to-use. I think that makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. Once you get it set up, the program will run in the background and won't bother you in the least. I use it to keep backup copies of programs on my computer on other computers in my network. So, for example, I want a backup of my e-mail program kept on another computer. I set up FolderClone to make an exact copy on the other computer every hour. That way, should my computer suffer a hard drive failure, I'd have all my e-mail on another machine. I do the same thing with other programs, certain folders in the My Documents folder and so on. You can also use it to keep files synchronized. And, you don't have to just go between computers, you can also just backup to things like your CD. Excellent!
FolderClone, by Salty Brine Software, is an extremely useful program that's very easy-to-use. You can set it up to work on its own at time intervals you determine -- whether it's every few hours or every few minutes. You can also elect to synchronize manually. The program is perfect for keeping exact copies of your most used programs in multiple locations. Better safe than sorry. Perfect for home or business. So, if you're looking for a fast and easy way to backup program and files, or keep copies of programs in other places, give FolderClone a try. I give it my highest recommendation!
Well, I guess that brings us to a close for this week. I always wish I had more time so I could tell you about even more great software. Take the time to give these Picks a try. I think you'll like them as much as I do. And remember, if you try a "shareware" program and find yourself using it, be sure to buy it! In that way the shareware marketing concept works for all of us. I'll be back next week with more Picks to tell you about and I hope you'll join me. Until then, have a great week, a wonderful weekend, and happy downloading!
