Animated Spelling, by FLIX Productions, is a neat program for helping children learn to spell. In everyday life, many people have problems with spelling. So, why not get an early start on the problem? The program works in two ways. One way is for the child to hear the word being spoken by the program, and then typing out the correct spelling. They get two tries to get the word correct. If they fail to get it correct, the program tells them how to spell it - both on the screen and with sound. When they get a word correct, it reveals a part of a picture -- you can see this in my screen capture. And, when they get ten words right, the picture becomes animated.
Animated Spelling also provides another way for children to learn spelling. This method is a word match, where the program "says" a word and then they have three words to pick from on the screen. Using both methods really helps to give a total spelling program to the child. The child is also able to pick from two different lists of words, one list that's easier and one that has words that are more complex. As in all FLIX products, the animations, that are displayed as "treats" for doing well, are excellent. They're also fun to watch.
Animated Spelling, by FLIX Productions, is a neat program for helping children to learn to spell. It gives them two different ways to practice and it goes back to give them another chance at words they've missed. Revealing the pictures as they spell words correctly, and then animating the picture after they get 10 right, gives the child a feeling of accomplishment. Too many people have a problem with spelling. So, if you have children, take a good look at Animated Spelling - it's free to try. And, the "Animated Spelling CD" has over 700 words, complete with sound and nearly 70 animations! Another great educational program from the folks at FLIX Productions. Try it!
Alas, that brings me to the end of my Picks for this week. I hope that you enjoyed reading about these programs as much as I enjoyed writing about them. All of them are excellent and well worth the download time. So, take the time to try them out -- you won't be sorry. And don't forget, if you try a "shareware" program and find yourself using it, be sure to pay for it. That way the shareware marketing concept works for all of us. I'll be back next week with more Picks to tell you about. Until then, have a great week, a wonderful weekend, and happy downloading.
