Once again, Welcome Back! I'm glad you've stopped by. The summer is slowly, but surely, winding down. And I've been stuck in my office working, missing all the sunshine. But, I've been looking at some really excellent programs that I'd like to tell you about. From a program to handle your faxes, one to handle your passwords, and another to handle all your archived email, these are great. So, let's take a look!

  • Mighty Fax
  • Version: 2.9Z Build 6
  • System Requirements: Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
  • Get more info.
  • Download Mighty Fax NOW!

Mighty Fax, by RKS Software, is a really nifty program that lets you do faxes without a fax machine! Yep, you heard me right, NO fax machine. Once installed, this baby lets you send faxes from just about any program that runs under Windows. Another great feature is that it can work with any kind of modem ... no special hardware required. So, you can be in Microsoft Word, create a document, and then fax it with just a few mouse clicks, and never even leave MS Word. Very slick!

Mighty Fax also keeps a history of faxes, which I find particularly useful. If you're trying to find a fax you can sort the fax history in a variety of ways ... by the recipients name, the date, or the subject. What about saving faxes? They can be saved as BMP files. And, if you have OCR software (Optical Character Recognition) you can snag get the text off the BMP files. Very nice. I found the program to be very easy to configure and it provides a world of convenience. Essentially, if it's something you could print, you can fax it with Mighty Fax.

Mighty Fax, by RKS Software, is an excellent program for sending, receiving, and managing faxes. Because it works from almost any Windows program, it gives you tremendous flexibility. And, it's so easy-to-use that it has appeal for both advanced and novice users. Very nicely done. Give this one a try -- it's a lot cheaper than a fax machine!

  • Darn! Passwords!
  • Version: 3.0
  • System Requirements: Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
  • Get more info.
  • Download Darn! Passwords! NOW!
  • To see a screenshot of Darn! Passwords!, click here!

Darn! Passwords!, by EmmaSoft Software Company, Inc., is a great program for handling all of the passwords, pin codes, and more that are creeping into our lives. So many sites on the Internet have you "sign-in". Some want an email address while others want you to create a user name. After awhile it can be hard remembering all of these things. If you understand what I'm talking about, just try out Darn! Passwords! and all you'll have to remember is one password! And that's just the password to get at the data you store inside of this nifty program.

Within the program you can create categories that make sense to you, like business, family, church, or whatever you need. Then, in each category you can add new entries. Lets say we're adding one for an AOL account. You can give it a name, like AOL1. Put in your screen name, put in your password. You can even include a URL (Universal Resource Locator) and notes for each entry. The URL will help you to remember where each site is on the World Wide Web. Keep going, making new entries, and put in all of the passwords, pin codes, and other things that you normally need to remember. Once all your information is safely in the program, just close it up. The only password you have to remember is the one you gave it to open the program. And all of the data you entered is safe!

Darn! Passwords!, by EmmaSoft Software Company, Inc. is a truly handy tool for keeping track of all those passwords, and lots more. The program is very easy-to-use, and very flexible. You can add, edit, and delete both categories and entries. You can edit existing entries easily, like when you change a password. It even has a feature that will enter the user names and passwords at a site with just a few mouse clicks. Shut it down and you only need one password to get access to all your other ones. This one is a part of my software collection and I wouldn't be without it. Many a time it's helped save some family member who forgot their login or password. So, if you're getting bogged down in all the clutter, give Darn! Passwords! a try. I highly recommend it!

  • Mailbag Assistant
  • Version: 3.0
  • System Requirements: Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
  • Get more info.
  • Download Mailbag Assistant NOW!
  • To see a screenshot of Mailbag Assistant, click here!

Mailbag Assistant, by Fookes Software, is an excellent tool for searching through all of your email, both past and present. And, when you're dealing with email, that can be important. I deal with a lot of email and I often find I need to search through all the email I've archived to find something. A date. An address. What someone said about a particular topic. And, Mailbag Assistant gives you the power to do just that and do it easily!

Mailbag Assistant supports a wide range of newsgroup and email software, including The Bat!, Eudora, PocoMail, Netscape Messenger, Pegasus, Outlook Express, Forte Agent, and more! And it's very safe because it works without ever modifying your email boxes in any way! Mailbag Assistant lets you group email, sort it, and even save it as a separate file. So, for example, you could search and find all of the email from "Cousin Bill" that you received in 2001. The program will pull all of those into a group for you. Then, you could save that collection as a file by itself, making it easy to reference later. Very nice!

Mailbag Assistant, by Fookes Software, is a really handy tool that can make it a snap to search through your email -- both current and archived. And while it's loaded with power, it's also very easy-to-use, making it perfect for both novice and experienced users. It also has a scripting language and wizards to help guide you through. Great for finding exactly what you're looking for amidst all of the email you've sent! Definitely a part of my software toolkit! Give this one a try -- I think you'll like it!

Well, I guess that's about it for this week. I hope enjoyed these "Picks" and that you take the time to give them a try. You'll find that all of these are excellent products. And, I'll be back next week with more "Picks" just for you. Until then, I hope you have a great week and an excellent weekend. Be safe, and I'll see you back here next week!
