2xExplorer is really a very nice free file manager with lots of basic features. But it is no longer in development to keep up with current tech. (The author has declared it to be "officially dead".) The panoply of buttons is a bit confusing but the rudimentary help file permits figuring out what most of them do. This was my favorite dual pane file manager until I met its "big brother" (xplorerB2) which has twice as many features for advanced file management.

If you deal with a lot of images, plugins, tubs, and bits & pieces - you'll just love this program! 2 panes that snap you back to where you were in the file tree (invaluable!) Drag & drop from zip files, New File name by clicking on the path at the top of the window and probably a lot more features I haven't discovered yet! What a great program!

I have been using this program for over one year now. THIS IS A GREAT PROGRAM, I have never used Windows Explorer again. I can recommend this program to everyone who manages files. Thanks programmer, a very nice job...
