projections. The variety and flexibility of its mapping functions is
one of its strong points. It incorporates more comet computation and
plotting features than any other program available to the public. Star
maps and orbit diagrams can be plotted as standard charts or 3-D for
better spacial visualization. Telescope control allows you to calibrate
on as many stars as you want and compensates for mount errors for greatly
improved pointing accuracy. The Shareware version limits the database to
naked-eye stars and the Messier objects and supports only Postscript
printers. The 18 million star Guide Star Catalog, 10,000 deep sky
objects, and 10,000 comets and asteroids are included on the CD Rom in
the registered version.

Deep Space will run under Windows 95/98. (A bug in the Borland compiler
which prevented previous versions from running on the Pentium II over 300
MHz has been fixed.) Version 5.56 version adds a 1-star recalibration
feature for permanently mounted telescopes, adds dome rotation controls,
increases comet debris trail plotting features, and allows direct
importation of comet and asteroid orbital element files downloaded over
the Internet.
