One of the best replacement of this old explorer. It seems at the first glance a little bit out dated, but give it a try. If you have used years ago the DOS programs like Norton Commander and Volkov Commander you will feel like coming home.

If you've ever used the program called Norton Commander then you'd have some inkling of what Total Commander is like. In short, Christian Ghisler (the author) is a godsend to those who have futilely struggled with the archaic Windows Explorer interface.
The program is slick, refined, easy to use, and extremely stable.
I have been a registered user for more years than I can remember and have never been disappointed by the program. There are regular updates (free to registered users), a full FTP client built in, archival support (.Zip .rar etc) and a clean dual pane interface that makes working with Windows files and directories simplicity in itself.

I purchased this product way back in '96 at v2.54. It has been very stable and my main file manager plus. I is the very *first* product I install on any new system I get. You need to give it a good tryout so you can explore all of the features. Also, Chris updates it regularly and has never charged for any of the updates (from 2.54 all the way to 6.02!). Meanwhile, he has added numerous additional functions and features. Excellent product. |

I have been evaluating TC6 for about 2 weeks; it is a fascinating program! You'll wonder how you got by without it! Makes other file mgrs, especially Win Explorer, seem like juvenile coding exercises...A Must Have for those who spend any time at all with Explorer.

Compare competing file/operation managers until you are blue in the face but after trying out Total Commanders features your only choice is to delete the competing products. This product truly ROCKS! It's stable, has sync/compare, multi-rename and other features that will save you time and money. This product can be color/icon customized, which of course, I did. Give it a whirl, you'll never look back. |

The best tool. I can even go on my Linux ext3fs systems, and copy and see files. Very intuitive. THE tool I use hunderd times a day. The FTP functions are fast and reliable. I use always then rather than my browser's (Opera) downloads facilities. The plugins allow to extend the possibilities ad infinitum. |

THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT!
It has many shortcuts, is very fast, and very customizable, it should exist for linux too! It really is the greatest program on my whole computer.
