Visual Lint is an add-in for Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0, Visual C++ 6.0, Visual Studio .NET 2002, Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Visual Studio 2005 which closely integrates the PC-Lint code analysis tool produced by Gimpel software with the Visual Studio integrated development environment.
Visual Lint offers a number of features to help make using PC-Lint easier and more productive. These include:
Integrating PC-Lint closely within the Visual Studio integrated development environment to make warning information easily available to the developer.
Files within a solution are automatically analysed in the background to build up a "Lint Profile" of the current solution while the system is idle. Multiple files can be analysed simultaneously, with user preferences determining the maximum number of analysis threads.
When a file is opened for editing within the IDE, the corresponding analysis results are automatically presented in a dedicated Analysis Results and (in raw form) in a dedicated pane within the Output Window. Double clicking on a warning message in either display will open the corresponding source file at the offending line, and display information on what the warning actually means.
When a file is saved, it is automatically queued for re-analysis.
HTML and XML reports can be produced in a similar format as Riverblade's LintProject command line tool.
Allows easy access to the PC-Lint manual (a PDF file) within the Visual Studio IDE.
Allows the main PC-Lint configuration files (std.lnt and (options.lnt) to be edited directly within the Visual Studio IDE.
Compatible with Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0, Visual C++ 6.0, Visual Studio .NET 2002, Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Visual Studio 2005.
